Store of Value

ZEC vs. the stores of value

Gold and Bitcoin are the world's benchmark stores of value. Here's how ZEC measures up: priced in Bitcoin, priced in gold, and by the size of its market.

ZEC priced in Bitcoin and gold

Measuring ZEC in BTC or gold instead of dollars removes the dollar from the picture. A rising line means ZEC is gaining ground on that store of value.

What if ZEC captured part of these markets?

The price of one ZEC if Zcash's total market value equaled a share of gold's or Bitcoin's, using today's ZEC supply. 100% means ZEC is worth as much as that asset in total.

What makes a store of value

🔒 Scarce

Like Bitcoin, Zcash has a hard cap of 21 million coins, and new issuance is cut in half roughly every four years. No one can create more.

🪙 Fungible

Every ounce of gold is as good as any other. With shielded transactions, ZEC has no visible history, so every coin is interchangeable, and none can be singled out or refused for its past.

🌍 Portable and self-held

ZEC can be held in your own wallet and sent anywhere in the world in minutes, without a vault, a bank, or permission from anyone.
